Privacy Policy

Who we are
PrayQR (“PrayQR”, “we”, “us”) is a platform that lets churches, ministries, and other organizations receive prayer requests and reply to them. This policy explains what personal information we handle when you submit a prayer request, sign up to pray with a network, or use our website, and the choices you have.
When you submit a request or sign up through an organization’s form, QR code, chat widget, or message channel, that organization (and the prayer network it runs) decides how your request is answered. PrayQR provides the service it uses and processes your information on its behalf and as described here.
Information we collect
- Prayer requests: the text you share and the language it is written in. A prayer request may reveal sensitive information, such as religious beliefs or health. Please share only what you are comfortable sharing.
- Contact details: your name if you give it, and the email address, phone number, or messaging account you give us or message us from.
- Consent records: which channels you agreed to be contacted on and when, and any opt-out or unsubscribe request.
- Network sign-ups: if you sign up to pray with a network, your name, contact details, and language, plus the prayers and replies you write.
- Technical information: basic logs (such as IP address, browser, and timestamps) that we use to run and secure the service. If you turn on notifications, we store a browser push subscription. The chat widget stores a token in your browser so it can show you a reply when you come back.
- Account information: for organization staff and volunteers who sign in, your email address and a session cookie that keeps you signed in.
We do not use advertising cookies or sell your personal information.
How we use your information
- To deliver your prayer request to the organization and prayer network you sent it to, so volunteers can pray and reply.
- To send you the reply on the channel you chose and agreed to.
- To moderate requests before volunteers see them, so the service stays safe and appropriate.
- To translate requests and replies so people can pray across languages.
- To run, secure, troubleshoot, and improve the service, and to prevent abuse.
- To follow the law and respond to lawful requests.
Automated and AI processing
We use AI models from third-party providers to detect the language of a message, check whether a message is a prayer request, screen it for inappropriate content, translate text, and in some cases draft or generate a reply. People review requests before volunteers see them, and an organization can choose to review replies before they are sent. We do not use these tools to make decisions that have legal or similarly significant effects on you.
How your information is shared
- With the organization and prayer network you contacted. Its moderators and volunteers see your request, and they may see your first name or contact details where needed to reply. Each organization is responsible for how its own team uses that information.
- With service providers that help us run PrayQR, under contracts that limit their use of your data. These include cloud hosting and database providers, email and SMS/messaging delivery providers, push-notification services, and AI model providers.
- For legal reasons, when we believe the law requires it, or to protect the safety, rights, or property of any person.
- In a business transfer, such as a merger or acquisition, subject to this policy.
Text messages and other messaging
If you give us a phone number or message us by SMS or WhatsApp and agree to receive a reply there, we will send you replies about your prayer request. Message frequency varies. Message and data rates may apply. Reply STOP to opt out of text messages at any time, or HELP for help. Consent to receive messages is not a condition of any purchase. We do not sell or share your phone number or messaging consent with third parties for their marketing.
Emails we send include a way to unsubscribe. You can also contact us at the address below to stop all messages.
How long we keep information
We keep prayer requests, replies, and contact details for as long as the organization you contacted keeps its PrayQR account, or until the information is deleted by that organization or at your request. We keep consent and opt-out records for as long as needed to honor them and to show we did. Logs are kept for a limited time for security and troubleshooting.
Your rights and choices
You can ask us to access, correct, or delete your personal information, or to stop contacting you. Email prayers@prayqr.org. We may need to verify your request, and we may coordinate with the organization you contacted. We will not treat you differently for exercising your rights.
If you are in the European Economic Area, the UK, or Switzerland: we process your information to provide the service you asked for, based on your consent (including your explicit consent for any sensitive information in a prayer request, which you can withdraw at any time), and for our legitimate interests in running a safe, secure service. You also have the right to restrict or object to processing, to data portability, and to complain to your local data protection authority.
If you are a US resident: depending on your state (for example, California under the CCPA/CPRA), you may have the right to know what personal information we collect and how we use it, and to access, correct, or delete it. You may also have the right to opt out of its sale or sharing for targeted advertising (we do neither) and to limit our use of sensitive personal information (we use it only to provide the service). You may use an authorized agent to make a request.
International transfers
PrayQR serves people in many countries. Your information may be processed in the United States and other countries where we or our service providers operate, which may have different data protection laws than where you live. Where required, we rely on appropriate safeguards, such as standard contractual clauses, for these transfers.
Security
We use technical and organizational measures to protect your information, including encryption in transit and access controls that keep each organization’s data separate. No system is perfectly secure, so please avoid sharing more than you need to.
Children
PrayQR is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their personal information. If you believe a child has given us personal information, contact us and we will delete it.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we will change the “Last updated” date above, and if the changes are significant we will give more prominent notice.
